I feel the need to be rebellious?

I'm 18 year old gay boy in high school living with homophobic, christian parents. Coming out right now is not an option, since they'll kick me out of the house. The embarrassment in their church would be too much.

Anyway, it is getting increasingly difficult to live with my parents. I feel the need to be rebellious just to keep me sane through the remaining few months to graduation.

I don't want to do anything that might be illegal or affect my future (I'm an A student), but something that will let me assert my independence from my parents warped values and embarrass them a little.

I already have an earring and a moustache and goatee sometimes. I got those during my earlier rebellion when turned 13 hehe.

What do you think of the following ideas?

1. Nip piercing

2. Tribal tattoo

3. Full beard

4. Smoke cigars (not often though, don't want to get addicted)

5. Wear black leather (though that might give them a clue hehe)

6. Shave head

7. Other ideas?

thanks in advance

Jeff C and Irish Sean: Why don't you crawl back into that hole of ignorance you just came out of? Why the homophobes frequent the gay section is beyond me...

I went through the same thing. In my rebelion I got a couple of piercings and smoked some cigars. I wouldn't recommend anything to permanent. Don't hurt yourself. I did that to rebel and now I just have a record a several broken bones and a few scars.

So like looking into a mirror. I think you should hold on just a little bit longer to be honest. I am amazed you seem so centered considering your circumstances. I don't know where you live or if you live in a small town, big city, that sort. But when I was closeted and feeling repressed I was fortunate enough to live a two hour bus ride to a huge city with a large gay population. You need to meet some people and have some fun for sure. I also remember a lot of coming out social groups from my youth. If they are available you should definately give that a try. There are a bunch of people your age feeling the exact same way all around you, just have to find them.

Then get out as soon as you can, even try to go to a college in a fun city if you can. 18 is a bit young but you can drink at 18 where I live so it may be a bit of a different story. That whole 21 thing is so restraining.

Get a part-time job to earn and save some money so that when the time comes you can move out to your own place.

If you have survive the first 18 years of your life, you can do it for a couple more years ...it's just a little bit. Don't do anything that you might regret later on. Be yourself. Check in your community for some support groups for young gays, lesbians who are in the same boat as you. They might connect you with others in the same situation as you with others looking for roommates ...

You could accompany them to Sunday services and pray to be cured of your affliction...
