Acknowledging Prejudice Against Whites?

Next Question...Does anyone notice that today's society it's still how the "white man" is dragging the "black man" down?! I know unfortunately it happens but it's gotten to a point for me and I am all of 27 but even I have noticed that when Blacks decide to make a joke about whites then society just laughs or blows it off as if nothing happened. Do you think that if Whites had their own Jesse Jackson then Blacks would say it would be racist or see it was a joke? How come there are no scholarships for whites in particular? Today I just heard a Black radio host down here in Miami who I actually enjoy but now am turned off by him because he had another black man on his show who basically made a prejudice joke on whites and he did nothing to stop it but rather instead laughed along!! When will it stop?! My only request to the Black community would be is let's please stop fueling the fire (those that do) and remember others have been persecuted as well wrongly but it's up to us to change!!

Update:

Thank You all for your replies and I'm really not trying to start a fight here but this is something that really aggravates me and just so everyone knows I am HISPANIC. I feel for you with the 3.6 G.P.A. unreal...there are PLENTY of educated and smart blacks out there and other races so why should there be an upper edge anymore? To the young lady that said blacks making fun of white is wrong and not persecution...I wasn't referring to that. I'm referring to the black parents that only educate their children on slavery, not the holocaust, not about native indians, etc etc so keep that in mind. It's just disheartening to think that so much of society is naive to the situation and great example with the Duke Lacrosse Team...my oh my how Jesse Jackson left that situation quickly yet he never spoke out about that woman making false accusations or the innocence of those white students....that's a load of crap on his part and bias and a shame.

Hello affirmative action, how the hell are ya??

Yeah, I would also like to add that this isn't something that people aren't aware of.

I got married during college and my husband is Mexican. My last name changed to Ruiz. My financial aid officer actually said this:

"Maybe you'll get some grants based on your last name."

    Shocking, no?

Source(s): Had a 3.6 GPA, but couldn't get a scholarship because I'm white and don't show enough need. My mother worked at the college and advised a student who had a 1.5 GPA and she got a fucking scholarship. Because she was black. I'm now $40,000 in debt for my education.

I would tentatively agree with you about a general trend in some areas of this continent (I'm from Canada) about the negative reaction to white men - education, certainly, is one. There are many unflattering stereotypes of white men - the image of the yuppie banker guy, white men can't dance, or play certain sports. In fact, stereotypically, Asians are smarter than we are, black people are bigger, stronger, faster, and dance and sing better than we can, and latin men make better lovers. Apparently, we suck.

Until you notice that by far the majority of white collar jobs are ours. We get away with a lot more, legally speaking, than other races - when was the last time that a white guy was stopped for driving a nice car? We earn on average a heck of a lot more than latin or black men, we have a longer life expectancies, go further in school, are in jail much less, and in general have a much better lifestyle. Far from sucking, we actually do pretty well. Have you ever heard of a white ghetto?

In terms of the jokes, well, the reason that most racist jokes are considered racist is not that one type of race is the butt of the joke, but the joke causes people to look down on the butt, as an inferior person. As white people, we have invented some truly cruel names for those we looked down on, many of which a lot of very small-minded white people still use. What pejorative names have we received over the years, as whites? Honkeys. Limeys (if you are British, anyway). Cracker. OOOOOH, those hurt. Really, most jokes about white people hardly hurt us, as a race, at all. And there are very few of them, anyway.

In terms of the Duke lacrosse trial, well, obviously a prosecutor got far too zealous, but where is the outcry over all the falsely accused black men? Can you imagine what would have happened if a group of black men had been accused of raping a white girl, hooker or not? In most areas of the US, they'd have been lynched, their houses burned down, and very few people outside the black community and Jesse Jackson would have been calling for the prosector's head. Remember Rodney King? I guarantee you, every black person in America does.

AS our society changes, becomes less male-centred, and white-centred, there will be some growing pains, for sure. But whatever those pains are, they will be reported widely in the media, and they will never be as bad as what happened when white men were fully in control, without fear of retribution. White men still have far more economic power, legal power and political clout than all other races combined. It's just not that bad.

This topic is like a hornets nest that got kicked and it brings out all the hornets and they are angry as can be. Everybody has their own take on this subject and they think that they are right and everybody else is wrong.

Yet, we have the statistics that do not lie, and they make an interesting study. Like the % of blacks who populate our prisons, are on the welfare rolls, are high school drop outs, the % of unwed teen pregnancies per race, what races over-populate the special ed classes in our schools, cause the highest % of incidents of violence - we HAVE all those statistics, including the % of crime committed in what neighborhoods in all our cities in the nation. Those stats aren't opinions, they are facts. Yet you'll get an argument about them from the community who 's responsible for the most part .

The ghetto blacks bring ghetto behavior into our schools and our society and everybody is afraid to say that openly for fear they get sued or worse, beat up. Behavior now days is out of control for a civilized nation and our racial relations still need a ways to go. I'd say, don't bother about this because it's not going to change. Some of the questions you ask require complicated answers and a study of the mores of our society, also looking into the reasons that so many programs have been instituted for the blacks in our society. Our lawmakers recognize the need for change and are trying to bring programs about that will do just this. Education is perhaps our greatest hope for the future.

No you're wrong, because black people can't persecute white people when white people still have most of the economic power. For blacks to make racist jokes about whites is a double standard and it's rude, but it is not persecution.

yeah, I've noticed that white racism doesn't exist either... but a white person can't make a joke and someone is crying racism...it makes me sick. I wish white people would stand up for themselves more....there seems to be nothing wrong with "black power", but if we say white power, we must be nazis.....

I think the biggest example of prejudice against whites is the duke lacrosse case.

Blacks say they want equal rights. They mean rights for themselves and the other races and ethnicities be damned.

  • 1 decade ago

because whites are intimidated by black people and feel guilt for something they had no hand in, so they don't stand up for themselves, and if they did, people would get angry with them
