1999 chevy blazer ls 2wd problems and expectations?

I got a 1999 chevy blazer ls 2wd with 177000 miles on it. I got it for 1500 from my mom whose owned it for a while. The truck was in Florida for many years but now I have it in Illinois. Was this a good deal? What are some problems I can expect? How about gas mileage? How long can I expect it to last me? I am in college and will drive it around 150 miles (if not less) a week! I know basic maintenance like oil change and brakes so that wont be a problem for me. Basically what are the pros and cons of this deal? THANKS

Well, I got a Blazer also my is a 97' and it has 4-wheel drive. I personally would not buy a truck that is 2-wheel drive. If you are gonna buy a truck get a truck 4x4. The price u bought it for is alright i think. Also, just to let u know all blazers need the shocks and Ball joints replaced sometime even if they are pretty knew. The gas mileage is like a truck not that good. About 16 to 19 miles a gallon. So I figured its time a full tune-up which is like changing the spark plugs and fuel filter and wires, rodor cap, ignition cap,air filter I think that's about it. I thought this would help on the gas mileage a bit but, I guessed wrong but o well it needed it. But, I will tell you this if the blazer was taken care of properly it will last you a long time. My father has a 92' with over 300,000 miles on it and its still going. Wish you the best look.

Put the car in park. Then switch the rear tires but dont put the lug nuts back on. Then take off the differential plate and turn it on. Drive it in a complete circle and if you dont hear a clicking then it's just the 4wd switch
