How do I create file folders for my desktop on a mac?

I'm very new to the world of Macs, and I'm just trying to figure out how to create simple folders to store my word files. It was as easy as a right click with my pc....but this is a one-button mouse!

Update:

Ah, see, I knew it would be simple. Thank you!

Or control + click on your desktop to give the drop down menu >select new folder.

Control + Click is the same as Right clicking a PC mouse. We mac users have many tricks ;)

If you go into System prefs>keyboard/mouse you can set your mighty mouse up for "right clicking" if that makes it easier for you.

Most fast Mac users like myself have their left hand for the keyboard and right hand for the mouse as we use a combination of short cut keys with the left hand and mouse clicks and drags to get round applications faster.

Make the Finder lively by potential of clicking interior the laptop section, click report on the nicely suited, New Folder, it is going to place a folder named 'untitled folder'. you could now rename it to in spite of you prefer.

Click on your desktop to put yourself in Finder. Then, from the top menus, do File, new folder.
