My weight has dropped from about 240 a year ago to 190 now. Any ideas?

My weight has dropped from about 240 or 250 a year ago to 190 now and its still falling. Ive been tested for HIV and everything else and theyve all come back negative. Not that I thought I had those, but I wanted to start ruling everything out.

Any thoughts on what may be causing this? Weight loss, no appetite, weakness, malaise, etc.........Thanks......

We need more details, please. We can't answer your question properly if you don't provide us with symptoms, what you've been doing, etc.

For example, have you been consuming a lot of sugar? Do you sometimes feel weak or unnaturally thirsty? Have you experienced wounds that DON'T heal? Then you might be diabetic; dramatic weight loss is a sign of diabetes. I hope for your sake that's not the case, though. :(

I apologize........im not even thinking properly.

I dont care for sweets....so no.....no sugar intake.

I DO stay thirsty it seems. Ive been that way most of my life.

No wounds that dont heal properly or on time.

No change in lifestyle over the past year either.

Thanks again.

Would be helpful to know what things you have been tested for specifically. Unusual wt loss is unfortunately a hidden cancer until proven otherwise (have you had a PET scan or a CT scan?); but chronic illness such as TB can cause the symptoms you describe. Also in the differential: autoimmune diseases, malabsorption of nutrients (like sprue), maybe sarcoid. There are a number of very unusual illnesses (called "zebras") that could be the cause. Best for these is to go to an university medical center, if you haven't already. Very best wishes!

If disease or sickness is ruled out, I'd suggest getting tested for worms. A worm can SERIOUSLY deprive your body of the nutrients it gets from food. Kind of nasty but there could a big ole worm just chillin in your intestines eating all your food. Hope you find out whats going on because I'd like to suddenly drop 50 pounds..
