Who is P. Martini??? in the Suzuki violin book #3?

Martini, Giovanni Battista (or Giambattista, known as Padre Martine) b. Bologna 4/24/1706; d 8/03/1774; Italian priest, theorist, teacher and composer. Received a thorough education from his father and others in violin, harpsichord, sining and composition. Entered the Franciscan order in 1721 and was appointed Maestro di cappellla at San Francesco in Bologna in 1725, after which he left his home town. As the most famous theorist and teacher of his time he attracted many distinguished pupils, including Mozart, and corresponded with musicians throughout Europe. His most important works are the unfinished history of music (three vols 1757-81) and a treatise on counterpoint, 1773-75.

Works include about 1500 woks, with about 1000 canons, oratorios, 32 masses, motets, psalm settings and other church music, stage works, keyboard works

In Suzuki book three for violin there is a gavotte by "P. Martini", but I can't find him in any reference source. Does anyone know his first name, when he lived, etc.?

That's definitely beginner, and the Suzuki books don't really teach vibrato. It's assumed that your teacher will cover that with you when you're ready.

minuet 3? from suzuki book 1? i'd consider all of book 1 to be beginner. to me, intermediate should include shifting. i think some vibrato exercises are introduced in book 3... but theres more than one printing of the suzuki books, so its possible not all of them have that?
