What is the most "metal" band you can think of?

In my opinion, it has to be Black Sabbath. They have that crunching, gothic, doomy sound that sounds more metal than anything else. Ever. But come on, who do you think sounds the most "metal" to you?

I prefer Black Sabbath but the most metal sounding band I know of is probably Slayer. Even though I'm not one for heavy music at all even I can't deny that they can turn out some awesome riffs and play a pretty cool song.

I don't personally listen to much metal at all but my two best friends are metalheads so I get to hear it all the time.

Depends, because metal can be slow or fast, heavier or lighter.

I think I'd have to agree with you with Sabbath. They got that heavy metal sound down better than many other bands. Heavy, as the name heavy metal suggests, dark, complex.

Haha, I never really thought of Job for a Cowboy as metal. The singer's voice sounds EXACTLY like Cookie Monster, so that basically distracts all my attention.

    Motorhead or Black Sabbath

  • Megadeth, Testament, Exodus

You're right about Black Sabbath..I guess another band that pretty much symbolizes "metal" would be Iron Maiden.

It has to be slayer with there very heavy and raw sound. Fast guitar and heart pounding drums. Rotting Christ is also very "metal" they are probly one of the most implemental bands I have ever heard.
