A Symptom Of The Universe
Music geek...owns wayyy too much music...knows obscure facts that no one cares about... Old music > new music so much it isn't funny. Bass guitarist who in his head is as awesome as John Entwistle.
What songs do you associate with weather?
Last night at work the power went out because of torrential rain, and I was stuck in the dark for 2 hours. Of course I didn't have my iPod on me....but it got me to thinking. If you were in a thunderstorm, hurricane, or even just a breezy summer day, what songs would you play "with the weather"?
19 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoStrange Metal Covers?
Sometimes a metal band chooses to cover something completely left of center. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. What are your favorite weird, but sometimes good, metal covers?
My picks.
Judas Priest - Diamonds And Rust
Exodus - Low Rider
Megadeth - These Boots
Testament - Nobody's Fault
16 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoWhat band would you classify as "D&D rock"?
In sort of a mock tribute to Gary Gygax (R.I.P.), what music/bands would you say have a sound that would fit perfectly in with D&D? Those bands that have the fantasy inspired lyrics, a very either old folk sound, or a "fantastical" sound, or who constantly try to pose themselves as warriors from days past.
10 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoWhen did R&B change?
I'm a huge fan of R&B, soul, and funk from the 50's ranging to the 80's, but somewhere along the line it all changed. Gone were the instrumentation, the funky sounds, and blaring horns, and they were replaced by an alien sounding beat machine. So my question is twofold. First, when/why did it change? And second, are there any bands or artists out there today that still have that old fashoned sound?
9 AnswersR&B & Soul1 decade agoWhich band has the definitive twin guitar attack?
Is it the two axe's of K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton of Judas Priest? Or maybe the twin harmonies of Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham of Thin Lizzy? Who is YOUR pick for the best dual guitar sound?
17 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoCan anyone think of some awesome bass solo's recorded in the studio?
I know that some bassist's solo live, but can anyone think of one that was on a studio album? The only one that comes to mind is Free's Mr. Big.
14 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoHow awesome is Sweet Leaf?
Seriously, one of the best riffs ever...and mmm...drugs.
4 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoAny bassists out there tonight?
I know we have to have some in here. So, who out there plays bass, what kind of instrument to you have, how long have you been playing, etc...
Myself, I've been playing for a year and change, and it's a blast. On a side note, I currently use a Squier Jazz, but I've been getting a lot of buzz on the strings, and I really just want a new one anyway since I'm not a big Fender fan. Anyone have a recommendation on a bass?
8 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoWhat is the most "metal" band you can think of?
In my opinion, it has to be Black Sabbath. They have that crunching, gothic, doomy sound that sounds more metal than anything else. Ever. But come on, who do you think sounds the most "metal" to you?
30 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoIf You Could Bring One Musician/Band Back For One Album...?
If you could bring your favorite musician back from the dead, or reunite your favorite band for one more album, who would it be? What, based on their progress at their last recording, do you think their album would be like? Do you think they would sound the same?
22 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoAnyone Here A Ten Years After Fan?
I recently discovered the band after watching the Woodstock documentary, and immediately fell in love with them. Alvin Lee is an incredible guitarist, with an almost unholy speed on that fretboard. British blues at its finest. Cricklewood Green is a great album, and is becoming one of my favorite album's of all time. So what's everyone else's thoughts on this band? Favorite songs? Album?
5 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoWho, in your opinion, is the most soulful guitarist?
When you hear their music, who pours their soul into each note, so that it's almost like you can feel the emotion coming from the guitar?
My pick for this has got to be Paul Kossoff. He could speak through his guitar, and achieve with only a few notes what took hundreds for other players.

13 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoFavorite live Kiss song excluding "Rock 'N Roll All Nite"?

10 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoGuitar Amp question?
First off, I currently have a Les Paul and a little 15 watt Fender practice amp. The sound that I have playing right now isn't exactly what I am looking for. The Fender amp generates too much of a...mechanical sound. The sound I am looking for is like Aerosmith, Kiss, Thin Lizzy, ZZ Top, and other bands like that. Suggestions on either a different amp, or anything else to change?
3 AnswersOther - Music1 decade agoMagic the Gathering question, beatdown deck.?
What are some red or green cards that can get creatures out for little or no cost? I have a few Defense of the Heart's and Elvish Piper's, but beyond that I can't think of anything. For any answers can I get the set please?
7 AnswersCard Games1 decade agoAm I the only person that listens to The Faces?
I have never heard anyone anywhere talk about them, or even mention them. One of those great rock bands that I feel that the world has forgotten.
