Favorite bassline from a classic rock band?

What bassline always manages to drag you into the groove, or make you start tapping your foot along with the rhythm?

technically these might not be classic rock, but they've got the groovy where it counts

    Spacehog - In the Meantime

    Duran Duran - Rio

    Cult - Resurrection joe

    Cure - Hot Hot Hot

    Blur - Girls and Boys

I like the guy from the Killers, he's got some groove and melody going on.

Just about anything by Split Enz.....Nigel Griggs is one tasty player.

Same with the Police....Sting's stuff might not have been the most technically challenging, but he was always locked with Copeland, and sang over top of it.

I used to like playing songs by the Cult, since most of their singles were DCG and you could shift from one song to the next or interchange the bass lines, ie playing the the bass solo from Rain as the melody for She Sells Sanctuary, or even throw in the bass line from Sweet Child O Mine

Mike Mills from REM had lots of cool lines, he was so solid but he'd still find a way to wander around a bit....and I think it's neat that Nirvana built a song around REM's The One I Love....check that song out then listen to Come as You Are....for the most part you can completely swap out the bass lines.

I don't know if this answers your question or just soounds like rambling, but there it is.

    Cheers!

The bassline from Led Zeppelin's Trampled Underfoot brings some funkyness into my life.

Wow it fairly is a very, fairly, challenging question via fact there are maximum of good punk bands, yet I do like different stuff too like experimental-commercial, rap, psychobilly, reggae, noise, gothic, ska, storage fuzz, even punk religious at present etc; for correct sought after punk band(s) or could be labeled as though hmmmm possibly Guitar Wolf, Ramones, Misfits, infants, Minor danger, lifeless Kennedys, undesirable Brains, Discharge, broken Bones, conflict, Ur**als, Crucif**ks, Dils, X, Wierdos, Minutemen, Damned, Cramps, Gun club, 999, Stooges(of path), Iggy Pop (if solo counts) & there is extra yet i did no longer have time previous those to handle that are favorites previous those, which I judged via music, music & sound high quality, in all probability conflict or lifeless Kennedys or Damned or 999 or Iggy Pop(Solo if counts)is my sought after bands labeled punk besides, sorry Dolls & Thunders & Joan Jett, love your music too, yet i like those adult males extra appropriate. Which that isn't even alongside with death punk-the precursor for gothic.

My favourite baseline would be the Around the World (Red Hot Chili Peppers) baseline. It fits perfectly into the song and there's not a single note I would, could or should change

Alright, don't laugh, but Billie Jean has a bassline that just doesn't quit.

I would say that David Essex song "Rock On". very promenent bassline and very clear. It might be pretty simple, but its still thundering enough for me.
