All quiet on the western Front Book cover idea?

I am drawing a book cover for All Quiet on the western Front

Any ideas?

Oh yeah, it needs to be somewhat symbolic or ironic.

Thanks a lot!

Go with an image of the men in the trenches. Many historians see them as the true winners of the war, so it would be a very fitting image. Plus, it's a very recognizable image from WWI.

Another image might be, perhaps, a military cemetery (maybe with a sunset as a background, to denote a western direction). This would be symbolic of the price of war and why the "west" is "quiet."

I would suggest portraying the State as a shepherd and the soldiers as the obedient sheep in uniform and armed, ready to slaughter the enemy. I cannot think of anything better at the moment. All Quiet on the Western Front is one of my favourite books.

OMG I have the perfect IDEA

Make the cover be one of the recruitment posters of WW1.

There is one that says: "This is a fabulous oppurtunity for you!" on it, with a soldier walking.

Deffinately Ironic, and symbolic. GO FOR IT!

German WW1 soldiers in trenches and foxholes. Most of the book takes place there.
