Recommended books for young adults?

I am looking for a few books to keep me entertained during the holidays. I have just startyed reading novels again and I am curious to what books are the 'best'.

Last three books I have read: A Bend in the Road (nicholas Sparks (LOVED IT!!))

Mary Higgins Clark: Two little girls in blue (good book)

A million little pieces: james Frey (I know it isn't TRUely a biography, but I couldnt put it down)

I have read some Nicholas Sparks; however, At first Sight lost my interest.. I prefer his feel good books over suspense. I also didn't enjoy "I heard that Song before"

Ok, so there are some likes/dislikes... any recommendations for new authors, books, series... ect ect ect?! I am going to go to the library tonight so I can enjoy my day off tomorrow witha wonderful book!~

From one Mary Higgins Clark fan to another - I would recommend more of her books (but I'm sure you have read plenty of her books). Her daughter Carol Higgins Clark is quite good.

A lot of MHC fans are James Patterson fans as well. He's a bit more intense, but still pretty good. Check out his website for more information.

Janet Evanovich is funny/suspenseful. Some of her stuff is a bit chick lit. - but hey, I enjoyed her. I plan to read more of her over break, in fact.

Hope I've helped and I hope you enjoy your day off!

    Kahlil Gibran – Prophesies

Nikki Giovanni – At Jerusalem’s Gate (Poems of Easter)

Norton Juster – The Dot and Line

Shel Silverstein – The Giving Tree

I think these are all readable and it is good for adolescents and adults to lead Silverstein who is not thought to be for adults, but, children. If not, then, the other answerers have given you some ideas.

A book that I really liked was "Fathers and Sons" by Ivan Turgenev. Not only was it a good, entertaining story, but it taught me something about family relationships without being too sappy.

I know why the caged bird sings by Maya Angelou , a bit honest, somewhat humorous, & definitely insightful, overall good read.

Go after the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, those in my eyes, are borne classics.
