Before we get too excited about Capello maybe being appointed England manager, can I remind you..........?

that, once again, it's the FA's and the peoples 2nd choice ?

England hardly ever get the real man for the job and have to settle for 2nd best, time after time after time.

.

I fear nothing's gonna really change.

I'm not sure who exactly was our first choice.

    Everyone had their own favourites.

I wanted either Redknapp, Allardyce, or Curbishley, but Harry's been stung by bung allegations, Sam is busy trying to turn Newcastle around, and Curbs is busy losing matches.

They could have gone for Peter Taylor or Stuart Pearce or Paul Jewell as I'm sure they all would have jumped at the chance and they are all very good English managers, but no, we'll go for someone who has never managed a national side (a la Sven), who falls out with players for fun, and cannot speak a single word of English.

At least he's got a good haircut.

Your right about the stats, but sir alf ramsey got england to a world-cup final and won, capello has some fine players, but the last world cup was a facade! Excuses Tiredness, match fitness? etc. Capelo has to take responsibilty for that, from what I have read across the newspapers and good ones at that, Capello has a tendency not too communicate well with the players, maybe thats had something o do with it. Also the Premier Leagues is massive too many games in not much time, with cup games all this adds up, for squad rotation. Overall I would give 39%.

The way the FA go about selecting a head-coach invariably produces a "second-best"; but in actuality there is no truth in that when it concerns top foreign coaches (Capello, Mourinho, Hiddink, Klinsmann).

IT IS ONLY 2nd BEST WHEN THE MAN IS BRITISH for instances McClaren, O'Neill, Jewel, Alldaryce, and other PL managers - that's the time to fear because ALL of them cannot help England to achieve anything.

Now with a topflight Capello in charge, there is more than hope - great expectation!!

Well there will be some change.

The FA coffers will be lighter to the tune of £6 million a year.

Where can I get a job like that?

I'm not exited and I suspect hat more people don't care than do care. What I get really annoyed about is that come the euro thing in the summer we shall still have wall to wall footaball even though England aren't playing. Of course there are the olympics too.
