All quiet on the western Front Book cover idea?

I am drawing a book cover for All Quiet on the western Front or Inherit the Wind.

Any ideas?

Oh yeah, it needs to be somewhat symbolic or ironic.

    How about just a simple, empty helmet laying on the ground?

    I would suggest portraying the State as a shepherd and the soldiers as the obedient sheep in uniform and armed, ready to slaughter the enemy.

    I cannot think of anything better at the moment.

    All Quiet on the Western Front is one of my favourite books.
