Phoenix university(on-line) MBA vs Well known MBA school?

Don't listen to the people regarding the profit school such as Phoenix. Most of these people never went there. I really dont know about MBA in buisness. But something you could do is use Phoenix or any other regional accredited online school to take the first part of your MBA that way you can still work. Toward the end like 25% left. Since the school is regional accredited you can transfer them credits to the school of your choice, and finish the degree there. This way your degree with say you graduated from where ever you chose.

The question shouldn't be uop or a well known mba school or not. It should be whether the school is accredited. My friend did her MBA through UOP, and she seemed to have learned a lot. I did mine a few years prior to that from a well-known (top-50 at the time) school, and did well. I also completed my full-time 2 year program in 1.5 years, because I was moving and getting married.

The thing about MBAs is not just the education you get--which is substantial, and the team projects, consulting gigs, and so on you get from going to a campus and making contacts is key. The main thing about MBA name branding is just that--people know the major schools out there and that name recognition will surely help you get a job.

An MBA from a top 15 school will get you a six figure salary in banking -- or any other area of business. An MBA from a ranked school will get you a decent job in banking or in any other area of business wit a salary boost that makes the degree worth while.

An MBA from a school that is not ranked will probably not get you a job in banking & will do little more for your salary than an undergraduate business degree.

An MBA from an on-lione university will actually hurt your possibility of getting a good job. Someone in banking will throw your resume away as soon as he sees that it is from University of Phoenix. You would be better served by getting a tattoo on your forehead that says "I have a bad education." It would server the same purpose -- and be a hell of a lot cheaper.

MBA from Phoenix is better than no MBA at all, but the only reason to do that over an established university is if you don't have the time or money to do a full time MBA at a 'real' university.

UOP is the largest of the for-profit schools with thousands of students. It is not AACSB accredited, so their business degrees are not well respected. Many of their students feel they received a good education, but the vast majority don't get a lot of benefit from the degree. The UOP MBA degree is not considered a good path to a successful business career. If you just want a degree and don't care where it takes you in the business world, UOP is a convenient way to get one, although not cheap. Many accredited schools are now offering on-line MBA programs, so it is probably a good idea to make some comparisons before making a final decision. It is also possible that a school in your state offers a part-time or an on -line MBA that may cost less for residents of the state. Although UOP is not listed in the Official MBA Guide, you may wish to use it to see what data accredited schools are reporting and then find out how UOP compares. Who are the teachers? Do they hold Ph.D. degrees, or are they adjuncts whose profession is not teaching? What are the starting salaries of graduates? Which companies recruit the school's graduates?

Simply put: UoP is a joke. You're far better off getting an MBA from a respected university than going to UoP.
