Because they're running a business, and running a retail store is expensive. Your view of what they are worth isn't realistic for a retail store. N64s are in oversupply, there are way more of them in circulation than anybody wants, so they are worth very little. Same for the Playstation. Part of what you're getting for the money is convenience and (hopefully) some guarantee of the quality of what you'll get. The best prices you can get are from browsing around thrift stores and yard sales, but that's hardly a reliable way to find what you want, it's just random and takes a lot of time. Some of the stuff will also be broken and won't be returnable.

I would have to say go to a smaller (non-chain) specialty games retailer near you. Larger chains like gamestop tend to rip you off for your games. At smaller stores you can usually negociate on the price.
