89 taurus dies at stoplights?
I have an 89 Taurus that dies unless I press the throttle. So, I basically have to drive the car with the throttle constantly pressed. Is there an easy fix for this? Any tips you have? This seems like it would be a pretty easy fix, but I don't know much about how this system works.

the "idle air control valve" or IAC as it's called may need to be replaced.

More than likely the Idle Air Control solenoid is either stuck or has failed. It will also probably be necessary to desludge the throttle body as they build up crud over a period of time and reduce air flow at ldle to keep it running. There is a special calibrated orifice that is used to set base idle, so this is not usually a do-it-yourself repair.

Fix the gas-cable or reset the iddleng by turning the adjustment screw. If you do not know how, go see a mechanic.
