Can you play all gamecube games on a Nintendo Wii?
I know that you can play SOME gamecube games on Wii but can you play all of them? If so, are gamecube games cheaper than Wii games. I was thinking of buying Dance Dance Revolution, but it's $90 for Wii, does anyone know how much it is for GameCube. (please do not put links to Ebay. Amazon is fine but not ebay...also if they could all be new, please!! thanks!)
Okay thanks everybody, but does the controller come with the Wii? Also could you explain about them changing the program?

I bought the Wii version of DDR "Dance, Dance Revolution" for the full retail price of $69.95 at Best Buy just last month--it's my personal favorite Wii game! Great aerobic workout!
The $69.95 price is what this game NORMALLY sells for at retail stores, and yes, for that price it includes the dance mat you use as a controller instead of a Wiimote. If you already have a dance mat (gamecube) you can also buy the game without one for the full retail price of $49.95. You can also buy the dance pads separately for $19.95. (They make metal ones as well that cost several hundred dollars and up.)
Plays just like the professional video version, only has better music as it features well-known american pop music spanning 4 generations instead of some of the unrecognizable nonsense I've tried dancing to at the arcade versions of DDR.
If you have been seeing this game listed at $90 or more, those are over-inflated prices from stores that are taking advantage of the fact that this game has been sold out at all the regular retail stores due to the high demand for Christmas.
It's currently sold out on-line at Best Buy, but here's a link to the site showing the normal price of $69.95 --WITH the dance mat controller.

You might be able to find one in stock at a local retail store--search in stores located out of the way or less popular shopping areas. If you have a membership to Sam's Club or Costco, these might also be good bets as I've seen "Guitar Hero 3" recently at both--which has been sold out in regular stores now for a while.
Otherwise, you can either pay above retail price, or wait until after Christmas. By mid-January I will bet you will have no problem finding them in the stores--and at the $69.95 price as well.
Oh, and the Gamecube version DOES work, as do the controllers--but why would you WANT to buy it? It is NOT cheaper and the music basically sucks! Unless that is you happen to live in Japan and LIKE music that sounds like it belongs on "Go Speedracer Go". The gamecube version DDR, Mario Mix contains music from the Mario Brother's games, and what kind of "dance music" is that anyway?
The Wii version of DDR, Hottest Party not only features well-known popular american dancing music, but they plan on offering additional song packs in near future that you can buy and download off the Wii's virtual shopping channel. Right now, 50 songs are included with the game, including disco music such as: Burn Baby Burn (disco inferno), and Hot Stuff; songs from the 80 such as: Karma Chameleon, Everybody Dance Now,and recent hits such as 1,2 Step, Clocks, Lips of an Angel, and Nickelback's "Far Away", etc. -- instead of Gamecube version which contains music from the theme song for Donkey Kong! Please don't do that to your kids! Wait and buy the Wii version.

Yes, the Wii uses complete Gamecube hardware to play Gamecube games. The Wii is 100% compatible with Gamecube games. 1. Insert the Gamecube game into the disc drive. 2. Insert any Gamecube memory cards and Gamecube controllers into the top part of the Wii. 3. Click on the Disc Channel on your Wii Menu, press start, and use your Gamecube controller to control everything else after that.
