    760 mph at sea level.

Sound travels at 770 mph in dry air. Slower than light.. It travels at varying speeds depending on the medium it is passing through.

Sound moves about 1500 meters per second in seawater. That's approximately 15 football fields end-to-end in one second. Sound moves much more slowly in air, at about 340 meters per second, only 3 football fields a second

The speed that light travels, 300,000 km/s, is the fastest that anything has been measured to move in the universe. This is a very high speed(670 million miles per hour), but not infinite. So light -- and in fact nothing -- can travel from one point to another instantaneously.

Sound waves are always slower than the speed of light... that is the reason why lightning comes first than thunder...

It depends on the frequency. The equation for it is ( speed of light is equal to the product of the frequency and distance (measurement between the highest points or lowest points of the wave).

Frequency determines the speed of the sound wave

Source(s): AP Chem!!! Why we have to learn it idk.

it usually depends on the wave's speed, frequency, and medium it's moving through. but it's definately slower than the speed of light. nothing we can record is faster than the speed of light.

Much much slower than the light waves. At sea level its velocity is almost equal to 332 m/s. Velocity of sound is more in lighter gases, faster in humid air, more in hot air, but pressure has no effect in he velocity of sound in air.

Light is faster than sound. You see the lightning before you hear the thunder.

slower through solids than through liquids, fastest through gas

    Always slower than light

it depends to the factors. but the human hearing is limited to frequencies between about 20 Hz and 20000 Hz, with the upper limit generally decreasing with age. Other species have a different range of hearing. For example, dogs can perceive vibrations higher than 20 kHz. Pick me best answer.
