Probation Question? San Bernardino CA is the county and state of Probationie!?
Does anyone know anyone know any websites for the rules and regulations on being on Probation In San Bernardino CA! I am in the military and may be relocting next year. My husband is on probation here and I wanted to know if it would be hard for him to get transferred! He has followed his probation to a T and has always mad his restituation payments and checked in with his probation officer on time. He is on probation for recieving stolen goods. We were also told he could not visit or vacation outside the state of CA. Is this true? Does anyone have this information? Thanks!

Actually, although Eric (and others) are correct that he must discuss this with his PO, it is incorrect that the judge has any say over this. The interstate transfer of probation supervision is governed by an Interstate Compact administered by the Interstate Commission for Adult Offender Supervision, and they require jumping through LOTS of hoops. This has to be initiated by his PO, and he should get on it ASAP because it takes time.

He cannot leave CA and most likely he cannot leave the county either. It is very hard to have it transfered, most of the time they will only transfer within the state, so he may be able to move to another county, but probably not out of state. He needs to speak to his probation officer about it...if the military transfers you they may make an exception and let him transfer or let him early term. If he has done so well on his probation, he really should check and see if he is eligible for early termination. You don't need an atty, you can file the motion for early term yourself and as long as you pass the drug tests and your PO doesn't object to the early term, they usually let you go. That would solve the whole thing!

Probation terms and conditions are not set by localities, they are set by the judge that grants the probation.
The only answer will come from his current PO.
