I take it this is for algebra homework? :D
You have to get your formula set before you can do anything.
T= commission for first ten suits + commission for suits after ten
T= .05(N*250) + .08(N*250)
T=((.05)(10(250)))+((.08)(3(250)))
T=125+60
T= $185 for thirteen suits

10 suits at 5% of $250 = 10 x $12.50 = $125
3 suits at 8% (5 + 3) or $250 = 3 x $20 = $60
Total commission: 125 + 60 = $185

first, figure how how many suits get 5%, and how many get the addition 3% (8% total)
10 at 5%
13-10 = 3 at 8%
now, multiply the two different commissions by the price and by how many are in the group:
.05 * 250 * 10 = 125
.08 * 250 * 3 = 60
125 + 60 = $180 commission!
