Need advice on a video recording device?

We record shows on our DVR that we want to watch later. There are several that we'd like to save. Is there something that you can transfer shows to a DVD so you don't lose them? Thank you.

That is a question I would ask my cable company if that is where you get the DVR from.

Plus seems to me that when you are watching the show later, that that would be when you can hit record and do that. But I am guessing here...!
