best feeding plan for 8 yr old male AKITA?

115 pounds in good health & very active...i've been feeding pedigree dry & wet food combo which he likes. i ran out of wet canned & fed him dry only a few days in a row & to my surprise his attitude noticably perked up..altho it was "fine" before. he's getting a bit older -- i'm looking for recommendations for appropriate feeding plan?

If you want to see a real perk up, try feeding your dog a more natural food. That crap sold at the grocery stores is such a waste of money. I have two labs and I feed them Solid Gold Wolfking. I also have two Bichons, one is on the Solid Gold Puppy Food, the other is Solid Gold Just a Wee Bit food. I always used Iams before, but I'm telling you, this food is amazing. Its super healthy, there is nothing going in your dog that could harm them or that they don't need. Yes, it's more costly than the G. store, but trust me, well worth it. I also find that once their body gets adjusted to it, they actually eat less because of all the nutrients they are getting. Look up Solid Gold food, and try a small size bag, you won't be sorry.

I have a 12 and 9 year Akitas. I give them dry food and I cook chicken and rice for them. I do not feed them any can food.

If he perked up with just dry food -- cut the wet food out. There is no reason to give it to him, and only dry is better.

Eww pedigree is junk. My dogs eat Canidae and occasional raw meat.
