2 Michigan Republicans Irked by Prius Delivery Vehicle for Energy Bill?

The Michigan congressmen were upset that an American made hybrid wasn't used to deliver the bill. The Honda Civic and Toyota Prius, both made by Japanese companies, are the only hybrids that can currently meet the Energy Bill's requirements.

Cry me a river, Michigan Republicans.

The US auto companies have 12 years to make a fleet which will average 35 mpg. China already requires that mileage efficiency! Europe's requirements are already more stringent!

US auto companies need to get their act into gear. This bill is helping them because the Japanese auto companies have been taking them to school, gaining more and more of the market share because they make better and more efficient cars.

These Republicans should stop whining and thank the Democrats for passing a bill which will force the US auto companies to move into the 21st century and prevent them from going even further into the red.

I'm irked too. US auto manufacturers just don't get it. We need fuel efficient vehicles. Duh. How about 40 or miles per gallon or more. Stop bowing to the oil companies and give the consumers what they want.
