What do you call a landlord who rents to anyone just to make a buck? Is it greed lord?
I don't think its slum lord - I think those are crappy landlords who don't maintain their properties. But what is the deal with landlords who rent to anyone/don't evict when tenants are a nuisance. Why should tenants who pay on time suffer because there is one or two tenants who can't live like normal human beings. And it happens everywhere - inner city to affluent suburbs. So why do landlords of apartment, condo, and townhouse communities rent to people who are constantly disturbing their neighbors? Police get called over and over and still the landlords refuse to take action. They have better things to do then babysit rental units for landlords. I know that many landlords (especially with multiple properties) make a ton of cash so are they just greedy? I'm all for helping those less fortunate who need a place to stay, but not at the expense of hardworking people.

Do a favor for your landlord. Keep a diary of every disturbance caused by the bad neighbors, every police call. With this history your landlord may be able to evict these people and defend against a lawsuit if they don't like it. Today it is alot of trouble to evict even nightmare tenants and can take months to go through the whole course of things.
I would call your landlord between a rock and a hard place.
This is our world today. Bad behavior is rewarded, the scum always knows how to leach off the system and good people get walked on.

Sometimes a apartment owner will not know there is a problem. Generally they rely on there apartment managers to handle these things.
Now if you live in a real large apartment complex the manager may or may not know that there is a problem if no one tells them about it.
The managers can and should give those people a 3 day to perform conditions and/or covenants or quit.
Help the mangers by giving them it in writing about the problem and be sure the managers will not let it out where it came from (that is law)
and after that if they don`t settle down then they get another 3 day and not settle down then it is bye bye to them.

thats how my apt is my landlord owns about 24 units here but he has about 100 total. we have some crappy neighbors drinking and fighting at all hrs of the night and always getting the cops called on them..one guy even threatened my family but still nothing as long as he gets his check...there is about 2 apt units here that have the problem...but he wont do nothing about it...i mean im looking to move soon cuz i cant stand it...we thought about starting a petition to see about taking action from the city to get them removed. but unsure of how to start..???

M-O-N-E-Y. sometimes the landlord doesn't live in the same state and has brokers collecting the rent. or could it be family they are renting to? Whatever the reason I'd call them greed lords too.

Like every other American business, they are in it for the money. If the bad tenants start to not pay the rent then, they will care.

Sounds like the apt. manager is not doing his/her job. Have you talked to the manager? Ask the manager for the name of the owner and talk to the owner about the situation.
