Vista or XP with 2.5GB RAM?

I have 2.5GB RAM currently on my machine - which is running Windows XP Home. When upgrading from 1GB to 2.5GB I really didn't notice any difference apart from when in games. Most of the time when I'm on my computer, I'm browsing the web or using a word processor etc. Usurally loding up a lot of files.

If I was to buy either Vista Home/Premium, would I have a faster running OS considering this is the majority of the work I do? Or would I not see any difference in computer speeds between XP and Vista?

I don't think you will see any difference, except for some headaches with Vista.

The ram is important, but so is processor speed. You can always tweak up your virtual memory, how far depends on the hard drive size available.

    Its under my computer>properties>advanced.

Also, make sure programs aren't loading in the background, shut off anything not needed. (Virus protection is)

Start>Run type in msconfig go to StartUp tab
