Food poisoning?

My husband was feeling totally fine like 10 minutes ago and all of a sudden started throwing up out of nowhere. He said he ate a tamale and some leftover 7 layer bean dip from yesterday. The problem was the bean dip was supposed to be thrown away because it sat out all day yesterday at my work's christmas party. Instead, when I brought it home last night, he put it in the fridge thinking it was ok I guess. He didnt know that and he had a little bit of it. Could he have gotten food poisoning? And if so, what do we do? I've never had it before.

Food poisoning is a self-limiting disease. Vomiting should last only about 24-30 hours -- after that, he might need a doctor to make sure it isn't something else.

Rest is best. The big thing is to make sure that he doesn't get dehydrated - small sips of liquid that he can tolerate - gingerale or water or juice. He might also have diarrhea.

Unlike other illnesses - I think it is better to let it run - his body is trying to get rid of the bacteria in the spoiled food and if you give him medicine for diarrhea or vomiting it just stays inside.
