How can anyone believe that the Dems. will win the White House when (according to polls) one of the top 2?
issues today is illegal immigration. Apparently none of the Dem. candidates have a clue as to how midstream America feels about this or either don't care Their solution is to make them legal and that ain't gonna fly.

It could potentially be the issue that costs them the election. Its hard to argue that its just a conservative Republican issue, its a national issue. New York's Governor Eliot Spitzer had to back off his drivers licenses for illegal immigrants proposals, and suffered sinking approval ratings. In Massachusetts, the Democratic congressional candidate, Niki Tsongas, came close to losing her election in a solid Democratic district because her opponent emphesized his opposition to illegal immigration. Hillary Clinton's fli[ flopping on the issue at a debate marked the beginning of her slide in the polls. So it could potentially be a national issue if Republicans were to play it right. However, the immigration debate within the Republican primary lately has seemed to move to the center, with the resurgence of Sen. McCain and Gov. Huckabee, who have been more moderate on immigration, and that has seemed to influence the immigration debate across the country toward the center, so it remains to be seen how much of an issue it will be in the election, it will depend on public opinion and how the issue is played by both parties.

Gee, I don’t know?
The same way they won both the House and the Senate in 2006.
Also Polls were right on target in 2006, republicans just did NOT believe it until election day.
Illegal immigration HAS always been an issue to people in American, but NOT to the Republican or Democratic politicians.
Republicans aren’t special, they want endless cheap labor.
Both republicans and Democrats don't care. If either party cared illegals would not be here. Simple as that.
It is just a campain ploy. Everyone gets angry, yet the illegals keep coming..
In twenty years those people will have adult children, and still more will be coming.
The politicians who are elected on both sides don't care they just say they do to get your vote.
Last:
Republicans ruled the house and the senate for 6 years with a republican president. They did what they wanted, BUT did nothing about immigration.
If there was REALLY a candidate that would do something about immigration they would have MY vote.

Not. Making the ILLEGAL aliens legal is not the way to go. It is the People of the country that need to make this clear. When we stand up to the politicians and tell them how important it is to NOT do this, we will be comfortable with just a few on the ticket that are aiming to be elected.
I personally believe that Obama will listen. Nothing can be done with any other candidate running. I agree with you, but we need to start somewhere.

The republican Bush was president for 8 years. And he didn't stop illegal immigration.

Well....polls don't mean anything. Most people narrow it down to two candidates then decide to vote for one of them or for someone else when they get to the polls.
But I agree with you-that's one reason I can't go Democratic this time. They don't take immigration seriously.

Bush won the White House and is still there I believe. Why doesn't he do something about it?

Its not a matter of making them "legal".... it's allowing them to VOTE.. as they do in some of the more liberal districts in southern California..
