Why are so many people angry about global warming, if it reduces our need for coal and oil?

In the end, global warming regulations will keep us from using so much oil and coal. If we don't use as much oil, we won't have to deal with the Middle East as much, which will save American lives.

If we don't use as much coal, we won't poison our fish with mercury, and won't cause acid rain or smog. Coal power plants cause up to 24,000 premature deaths due to particulate matter, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions.

If we reduce carbon emissions to stop global warming, we'll just need to reduce our use of oil and coal. Why are people so angry about reducing coal and oil?

Update:

Sithlord - I think you missed the meaning of my question entirely. If we want to reduce carbon dioxide into the air, part of the benefit is that we'll use less coal and oil.

Update 2:

DDT - I didn't say that global warming had anything to do with the 24,000 premature deaths (I said this clearly). The 24,000 premature deaths are due to particulate matter and smog.

Wow, what a great question! The only reason I can think of is that some of the main deniers of global warming, like our President and a few of his buddies, have ties to the coal and oil industries, and don't want to hurt the business of their friends. So they keep pushing these dirty fossil fuels to squeeze every last dime they can from them while there's still time.

Then apparently there's a small group of people in this country who just blindly follow the positions of their favorite politicians, and therefore adopt the same stance as they do regarding this issue.

If people could just understand what trying to find ways to free ourselves from fossil fuels could do, I don't think there'd be an objector in the entire country! First it would help the environment. Second we could essentially give the bird to the entire middle east because we wouldn't need their oil anymore. Finally if we develope energy technologies to replace fossil fuels, we could market and sell these technologies to the rest of the world, giving a HUGE boost to our economy in the process!

    You're out of your mind!

It's not that having the world warmer means we don't have to heat our homes. It means we won't have food to eat because global warming affects the most fundamental portions of the food chain.

It kills plankton that supports fish. It causes drought which means bad news for farming. It has already affected 3rd world countries that lack water resources. The only reason America is able to feed itself is due to advanced irrigation. If you haven't heard, much of the western US has been in a drought for the last decade. Georgia is suffering drought this year as well.

By the way, think about what we will do if the temperature goes up? We will start using our Air conditioners. Air conditioners are an extreme drain on our energy resources. releasing heat is easy. But burning coal to run Air conditioners that are supposed to cool things down is a big drain that only exacerbates global warming.

And we don't always use oil to heat our homes. Only in desperate situations. Even if global warming were to spiral out of control I'm sure we'd still drive our cars. We'd still be the Oil Sheiks B****es.

Of those 24000 deaths you site how about naming 10?People are angry because Global Warming is a fraud designed by the socialists to transfer money from the west to the east.

Im not saying that I believe that global warming is actually happening and Im not saying its not.

I did hear that in some more impoverashed places in the world, they are getting alot less rain so they arnt getting there crops (food) and are lacking in drinking water. They are starving. I cant stand the thought of a starving child or mother or elderley man.
