Not saying that God couldn't or wouldn't -- after all, God is God, and God does what God wills -- but prayer changes us more than anything else. When we are changed, our perceptions change. When our perceptions change, our world changes because we act in it differently. We align ourselves with God's will and life works better that way individually and collectively.

However, God does have a major and minor plan. The major plan is that God always sends humanity a divine universal educator with the latest spiritual and social teachings to carry forward an ever advancing civilization. And there's a minor plan, which is played out in the affairs of humanity that creates the infrastructures through science, technology, and government upon which the ever advancing civilization is built. Eventually the two will converge in an age long promised by many traditions around the world of justice, peace, and prosperity for all humanity, i.e., the long promised kingdom of God on earth.

No, I believe as the Deists does. An unknown source created the universe but doesn't get involved with the daily affairs of men.

Although I do believe that God is able to intervene sometimes, I feel mostly God sets things in motion, gives us free will and other tools, and expects us to learn how to work things out for ourselves............

Yes. Because he has personally intervened in my life many times.

God is encouraging and empowering. He has performed miracles and he does offer gifts and blessings. That said, I don't think he intereferes with the free will of people. In otherwords, he's not going to just come down and force someone to love you. You have to be willing to receive his blessing and works, and lots of times it takes commitment and hard work. He will work the circumstances for you and guide you.

It's not always the case, but that's my understanding of how it generally works.

I hope the below verse from Quran answers your question:

If a wound hath touched you, be sure a similar wound hath touched the others. Such days (of varying fortunes) we give to men and men by turns: that Allah may know those that believe, and that He may take to Himself from your ranks martyr-witnesses (to Truth). And Allah loveth not those that do wrong.(Chapter 3: Verse 140)

Say: "Who is it that delivereth you from the dark recesses of land and sea, when ye call upon Him in humility and silent terror: `If He only delivers us from these (dangers), (we vow) we shall truly show our gratitude?'"

When distress seizes you at sea, those that ye call upon - besides Himself - leave you in the lurch! but when He brings you back safe to land, ye turn away (from Him), most ungrateful is man!

Of god was real, he might ave intervened, but since god is a myth, he can not really do a thing.
