can coatimundis be taken into the us from mexico if they are pets?
They have chips to ID them, and I have a mexican gov't permit to have them..only these two I am wanting to take to US. Thanks

Hi Rikki...the US Dept of Agriculture has very rigid/strict requirements on allowing any exotic animals (even as pets) from outside countries. Generally, the answer would be no. You would be required to check with the USDA/APHIS office in advance before entering. Some US states such as California prohibit any exotic pets into their state and could be subject to confiscation respectively, which applies to most exotics entering anywhere in the USA.
The US government is concerned about the pet trade especially when exotic animals come from abroad.
