use VLC Player - FREE DOWNLOAD at http://www.videolan.org/ - SUPPORTS ALL CODECS AND ALL OPERATING SYSTEMS (WINDOWS, MAC, LINUX, BE OS, PALM, FREE BSD) - GREAT SKINS AND AMAZING PICTURE - IT WILL PLAY JUST ABT ANY VIDEO FILE YOU THROW IN IT
ANOTHER VIDEO PLAYER THAT SUPPORTS ALL CODECS IS ALShow for windows (windows version only) - free download at http://www.altools.net/ - IF YOU WATCH VIDEOS/MOVIES WITH SUBTITLES IT MIGHT BE EVEN BETTER CHOICE BECAUSE IT GIVES YOU SO MANY CHOICES WITH SUBTITLES
VLC PLAYER SUPPORTS SUBTITLES TOO - JUST IT DOES NOT GIVE YOU ANY CHOICES WITH THEM - ALShow DOES
both of these players support all codecs by default - nothing else to download - once you download them there is no need to download any additional codecs - everything is there - if some new codecs comes up they just issue software update - it is that easy solution
