Should I call off work on christmas night?
I told them I can work midnight to 9 am tonight but after visiting family and stuff I feel lousy and run down. I havent called off work since august when my uncle passed away. Think I should call them?
I'm probably gonna do it just so I can rest an extra day.

Yes. It's Christmas, give yourself a break! Just think; one day off from work will let you rest to give you many days of more productive, awake hours! The decision is yours, but the greater good is telling you to call it off!

Scheduling for the holiday is tough enough and you told them you would work. If you are so tired and run down then why are you online? Go take a nap and then go into work.
If you work a job that involves midnight shift on a holiday night then I can only assume it's a real crap job anyway.... Maybe if you took more responsibility and made your best attempt to go to work everyday then you might find something better. If you call out I promise they will be pissed off.

I think you deserve the night off. Who doesn't? Call in and tell them you honestly arent feeling good and you feel that your being there wouldnt be worth much to them in your current state out "lousiness". ...Or you could tell them you got food poisoning. I mean, I understand committment and all, but as long as you wouldnt be putting them and your coworkers in an absolutely TERRIBLE position, I dont see why you need to worry about calling in. However, to be as courteous as possible, call in ASAP! Nobody likes it when people call in last minute. You should have called in at least 5 or 6 hours prior to your shift.

No, not if you promised you would be working that schedule. "Feeling lousy" or "run down" doesn't mean you get to shirk responsibility at the last minute.

Of course, call off work, don't on Christmas.
