You can get an HP laptop with similar specs to an Apple laptop for about 1/2 the price. The choice between the two comes down to personal preference, usability, software, & ultimately for most people - price.

Mac is worth it! In a comparison between a mac and a similarly equipped PC including the cost of software for the PC to equal all the stuff you get with the mac the cost is about the same. Also the Mac is more reliable, easier to use and retains is value Used PC's are worthless. A used Apple can sell for $1000.+

While Apples operating system (Leopard) is better than Vista in my opinion, the hardware is a complete ripoff.
One cool thing is that Apple finally switched over to using Intel processors...which means you can build a custom PC and install Apples Leopard operating system = you don't get gouged on hardware (hardware is the processor, RAM, hard drives, etc...the actual physical computer).
In fact, you can post a want ad on craigslist for a pirated copy of Leapard and pick it up for less than $50.
In all honesty if you don't edit lots of video and do lots of graphics work, an Apple should not even be a consideration.

I would love to get a Mac pro but the thing is im not familiar with Mac troubleshooting wise. If mac hardware is faulty or need replacements u have to call them blah blah blah. but pc just go to newegg.com buy what i need then replace it.
Im a graphic designer i actually almost bought a mac for $6,000 but instead i got mine custom built and it only cost me $2,500 and its faster better than $6k mac.
But if u have the money get a mac pro.. no no imac. Go pro :D

I love my macbook, but I wish I had saved up for a more expensive model, because it not only has more space and memory, but the body is higher quality when you get the higher end computers.
