Can I use Wal-Mart Visa gift card to pay for RuneScape?

Okay, so I went out and bought a $100.00 Visa gift card from Wal-Mart with my Christmas money because I wanted to pay for RuneScape membership. Now, I've done this before, only it was with a different brand of Visa card that I got from Food World. This card, however, has "Wal-Mart" stamped all over it and isn't working to pay for my membership. I've registered the card, checked my information, and done just about everything, but it still says "payment declined." (and yes, I've checked my balance—still $100.00) I thought that since it worked with my last Visa, it would work with one from Wally World. I don't see what the difference is. I did notice on my account page it said "Available Balance 100", and "Current Balance 0." Then it said something about current balance being the amount cleared the past business day. Does this mean my money won't be able to be spent until tomorrow since yesterday was Christmas?

I really don't want to go and buy another gift card!

Update:

Yes, it does have the Visa symbol on it, so I did NOT buy a Wal-Mart gift card.

Really, I'm not that stupid.

    generally gift cards are available for use immediately

    it may be that WalMart may have some internal procedure that takes an additional day for the funds to be credited due to the holiday

    why didn't you just put it into a regular Visa or Master card where you wouldn't have this problem? I would have CHECKED with WalMart first before I bought a gift card to see if you would be ABLE to make such a payment with their card. Sometimes Visa cards are restricted from making certain kinds of transactions.

    I would call the local WalMart and ask them about your issue and should you be unable to use the card for this, see if you can get your money back in cash

    Sound like you bought a Wal Mart gift card. But hey, if you figure it out let me know b/c my Visa rebate card from AT&T isn't working either

    If it has the Visa symbol it should be able to be used any place you can use Visa. I'd give it 24 hours and try again. I purchased a Visa gift card once and had to wait 24 hours to use it online. Good Luck.

    Wal-Mart gift card can be used only at Wal-Mart. I hope you can find $100 worth of stuff you want to buy at Wal-Mart.
