When GW deniers complain that certain people are making money off the GW theory, who are they?
I've heard it time and time again. The deniers say that Global Warming is pushed by people who want to make money for themselves. Who are these people, then? How are these people making money?
And don't say Al Gore...everyone's sick of his name in this forum. Come up with someone else.
Agent Zero - honestly, you can't come up with anyone other than Al Gore? Anyone?!?
Ben O - So you're saying that these people in poor countries are manipulating all these scientists to change their results? These new carbon traders, couldn't they just make their money on commodities or stocks? How about these scientists. Can't they just focus their research on the thousands of other issues. They can make the same amount of money either way.
mad dog - I'm calling your bluff...specifically name these people who are making money off of global warming.
stranger - Energy companies will lose the most money. They are the ones who are global warming's staunchest critics. Almost all energy companies will have to switch from coal to other alternative sources.
Kelvinis - so you acknowledge that the global warming issue isn't about money.

Scientists, so they can more easily get grants!
That's why astrophysicists and cosmologists recently came up with the theory that the universe is going to collapse in 100 years unless we all eat a dozen donuts each day. They're trying to create a panic so they can get more research funding, plus they got some under the table cash from Dunkin' Donuts!

He does run an environmental consulting firm, but I agree its a little ridiculous to claim the entire global scientific community is in on some money making conspiracy. Besides, aren't they all supposed be goddamn communists as well? The cold fact is, that because he is a politician, Al Gore is automatically divisive. They would be better off with Schwarzenegger or Chuck Norris as a spokesperson. I also think Gore is a ninny for being such a heavy consumer of electricity; no matter how many "Carbon Credits" he buys. But AL Gore being a ninny isn't enough for me to play politics when it is so obvious that 1) We need to buy less oil from Arabs who hate us and 2) Green technology is clearly going to be a major part of the global economy... do we really want to miss out on it? On a final note, deniers are unable to come up with sound arguments discrediting warming. It might be valid to say that we are powerless to prevent it or that is natural or that spending tax dollars is waste of time. But those sound points are erased by idiots yelling that its snowing in Arizona, or that is worldwide conspiracy. Hello... there's less polar and Greenland ice. If you want to be a denier, then start by explaining this.

In simple terms everyone in the Energy Industry.
There is no one man or people in particular that are making money, but there are shareholders and stockholders of companies in the energy industry that are raising the price of crude oil, electricity, coal, propane, natural gas, etc.
If you have a house and pay bills, it is very clear to you how utility payments have gone up considerably in the recent years. When one energy source goes up, all others follow suit.
Part of the reason that energy costs (globally) have gone up is greater demand. Industrializing countries in Asia (like China) are using more and more resources to produce large volumes of products. The large volume will lower the price of that product (toys, etc), but eventually raise the overall consumption of energy. Global Warming today is being blamed on this large consumption of energy and release of waste.
However, this very argument is fueling speculation and the price of energy products has gone much higher than even demand would push. For example look at the price of Crude Oil, according to some specialists with the greater demand it should have gone up from $20 per barrel to $50. Today it is well above $90, because of speculations.
Al Gore and other scientist who are magnifying the Global Warming effect as the Fault of Man (without concrete proof) are specifically pinpointing our energy use as the problem for the raise of temperatures. Al Gore and all those who are claiming to have found the answer are simply calling "Fire" in a movie theater.
Therefore it is the companies that are supplying our energy are making a lot of money from the raised speculation. They are claiming that tougher regulation would raise their costs (which it would). So they go ahead and raise the prices today - a very expected and natural course for a free market environment in which we live.
You see, every time new regulations are placed by the government, the consumer will always pay. Businesses will manage and raise the price, and the bottom layer of price payers is you and I. The consumer always pays the price.

Check out some the big names who attended the 1992 Rio Earth Summit and you' should get a clearer picture, but like Communism this is much more about power or/and the monopolizing of it into the hands of a few i.e the New World Order
money as a end is a straw man - it is a means to the NWO's ultimate end
Ben O & stranger2ooo are correct BTW
'Agenda 21' from the Rio Earth Summit is the NWO's "Mein Kampf" - which incidentally was also officially authored by a "Bohemian" ,occultist movement's leader.
EDIT: kusheng make sure you keep hitting away at that straw man - at least then the global controllers will know where to find you when they send Blackwater looking. they need confused muddled thinkers like you not to see their danger- and plenty more like you too.

Besides the researchers themselves who's very survival comes from grant money and know that global warming grant money is readily available...and that grant money to DISPROVE it is extremely hard to come by AND threatens the tenure of the scientists wanting to address the topic...the people that make money off the GW hysteria are the industries that people turn to thinking they can FIX the problem.
For instance, General Electric owns major media industries, such as NBC. Do you think it is any coincidence that NBC made such a show of global warming over the last few months? GE is deeply involved in providing "green" solutions.
So...follow the money. Industries that claim to have the "cure" have a vested interest in fanning the flames of global warming hysteria.

There are a lot of people who have vested interests in AGW. Besides Al Gore, there's everyone in the business of selling Carbon Credits, everyone living in a poor country that will benefit financially from carbon trading, every in the IPCC because the organisation wouldn't exist at all if enough people didn't believe in AGW. Also everyone who gets a research grant to research AGW.
(edit)
I don't agree with the often made pronouncement that only oil companies have vested interests. Everyone else is completely impartial.
Vested interests does not mean scientifically incorrect (as some people suggest about oil companies), but whenever people invest money in a business venture like carbon offsets, they have a vested interest in scientific outcome. There are no good business (like carbon offsets) vs the evil businesses (oil companies). There are just businesses providing what people want within the rules formed by government. All businesses have vested interests.
Researchers can only get funding to find important new things. The significance of any finding tends to get exagerated for political reasons. It is also politically difficult to get funding to disprove what someone else has already 'proven'.
Are people in poor countries trying to influence the scientists. I guess Fiji is one of the best examples of this. The are constantly claiming to be entitled to financle compensation for climate change.

Every individual involved in manufacturing in China and Al Gore.

Those wicked scientists are who. Everyone knows the only reason to become a research scientist is to become filthy rich off of grant money.

Anytime fear is used someone is making money. There are those that will make money off of GW. Then there are those that truly would like to see the planet have a future for humans

As soon as you can tell me the scientist’s names that are backing Al Gore’s theory, then I can tell you who is making money. Al doesn’t seem to want to tell us their names, maybe you could ask him.
