Using Router at Home?

I would like to know if using router is dependent on the wireless or wired internet service

Update:

I bought a wireless router and it does not want to work with my laptop computer. I was wondering if the model is not compatible with my unit or there is something lacking in our installing of it.

Using Router at Home, is common among my friend circle.

We are using from last five months and have observed Wire less router is working, better than the wired.

Router-modem requires installation, kindly get the same installed than only you will be able to use.

You may please take the help of CD, which came with router, alternatively ask the professional from the firm who supplied router to you. Wishing you early support from Router Supplier and Happy Surfing / working on the net.

A router is dependent upon a wired internet service, connected from the modem to the WAN port on the back of the router.

your laptop must have wireless capability. It is usually an internal card that picks up the signal. If your laptop is fairly new it should have this ability otherwise you may have to have a card installed or they sell a device that plugs into the USB port to pick up the wireless signal. Either router, wireless or wired must have a modem that is fed to it and from there the signal is disbursed to other locations
