  • Does anyone have a favorite hotel in Santiago, Chile?

I will be in Santiago very soon and need a hotel at the start of my trip and the last 2 nights of my trip. We are meeting my daughter and we would want a room for three. We want clean, safe, charming would be nice and not too pricey, by that I mean less than $150 a night , I'm frugal what can i say. i'd rather spend money on an activity than a place to sleep. Speaking of that if you can recommend any activities in the greater Santiago area or beyond, have at it!

    Thanks for your imput!

  • I would like to visit Patagonia /Chile can anyone share any pointers about travel and logistics?

I arrive in Santiago Jan 6,2008. I am trying to figure out the best way to explore Chile until I leave January 22. I will be in a party of 3 and I would like to go to Patagonia and see the ice flows and other sights but the 5 day cruise and airfare would run over $8000 US for 3 of us. Does anyone have any experience or pointers to share? I leave in a week.

  • Do Racoons eat rats?

I had a wild critter removal guy tell me that a racoon would catch and eat a rat that is why when i found the remnants of the skunk in the yard I thought the coon did it. Would a domestic cat kill a skunk? This is a fenced yard and I don't think a dog could get it but maybe a fox, would a fox kill a skunk? Sorry for all the possible scenarios but I want to solve the mystery! Thanks

  • Costa rica: Vehicle choice & Extra insurances what to do?

I'm traveling to Costa Rica later this month. I have reserved a vehicle. Is it highly recommended to purchase the collision damage/ theft insurance in addition to the deductible protection and the personal Liability? This is an additional cost of $45 a day or $260 to the rental. Anybody out there have any experience with or without to pass on? Also I understand the roads are horrid and we were looking for a vehicle that could carry 7 passengers..A Toyota HiAce Microbus is available. Will that give us the clearance we need to get around or would it be recommended to get the premium SUV that also seats 7 ? Any advice is appreciated both questions please!
