Of-course!! you can learn yourself.Coz i did the same.I would say i wouldn't be a quick process you need to ve lot of Patience.

    Some tips for you:-

1.Try playing each strings from 1 to 6 then from 6 to 1.Focus and check if your creating clean sound for each sound.

2.Then comes the tuning part.If you can tune a guitar you can say u've learn 1/4 th of the lesson.

3.Once your guitar is tuned properly you're all set to play chords and the relations.

    4.Rhythm also a play a big role.So u need lot of practise.

    ALL THE BEST-

First of all a guitar is not a ukelele. Completely different tuning. A guitar is EADGBE. A uke is CGEA. Ukelele is easier than guitar. Go get some tabs for something and figure it out. It's not hard...... and I play drums. Everyone who's anyone taught themselves for some part of their career. Look at Hendrix and virtually everyone from back then.

A ukulele is NOT a guitar, but a higly similar stringed instrument. Is it large or small. Six strings or four?

If you wish to. Buy "Guitar for Dummies" and "Learning Guitar forDummies" from www.amazon.co.uk. Then buy the acoustic beginners pack from www.presentsdirect.com, just search guitar and click on "music in a box".

Yes, you can teach yourself either of these instruments. Just start off learning open chords and practising how to change chords smoothly.

You really need to find out if you have a guitar or ukelele so that you can buy the right books.

I got a guitar for Christmas and it came with a tuition DVD so I'm going to follow that. If you don't want formal lessons, either get a friend to teach you or search for videos online.

I think the best spot to help learn guitar is ultimateguitar.com it has tons of tabs ideal for learning some of your favourite songs ! otherwise you can just type free interactive lessons into google ( or wotever browsing site you use) and you can learn some basics from there

Trial and error won't work. Just get a tutorial online via text or video.
