How painful is a tattoo on your shoulder?
I know the pain from getting a tattoo varies from person to person depending on where you get your tattoo and your pain tolerance, but i want to know in general how much it hurts to get a tattoo on your shoulder.

the pain should not be that bad as there is a small layer of fat that is covering. Worst place is ankles and wrist. Compare the skin on the shoulder and ankle. Should tell which one will hurt more. From my experience, I would take an advil if you have a low pain threshold and avoid getting it done around the time of your period. I found the outline hurts the most but when they are filling it in you are numb enough not too feel it too much

I wish I had this 2 years ago when I damaged my rotator cuff while showing off. This is very detailed and really gives you the techniques you need to sort out your own shoulder issues and a lot more info such as preventing further injuries. If you have a shoulder keeping you awake at night you'll know it's no laughing matter.
Stop Shoulder Pain Permanently?

depends on the precise location and how close to nerve endings it is. my tattoo in the centre of my back barely stung at all, save for a few spots near the shoulder blades. but the tattoo at the base of my spine was excrutiating.
i would take a guess and think that the shoulder wouldn't be too terrible, but would have some painful sections.

Hello,
No bone on the shoulder, so I think it would be low in pain. Mine is on my chest, a foot by a half a foot. When that needle hit the collar bone and chest bone my lord!! It hurt LOL! I can laugh about it ...now.
Do not worry about the shoulder, there is a reason why many people get it there.

everyone takes pain diffrently, thats one of the thinks that makes humans diffrent from each other, males take pain better than females depending on where they come from but at the same time it could be the other way around, its like getting a shot but a little less painful, you will never know until you try, but it shouldnt hurt, and its not as bad as you think it is because the more you think about something the more you mind starts to make more of a deal then whats acctually there

It all depends on how sensitive your skin is on that area. I will be pretty honest here: I had my done on the right cheek (as in bum)... It hurt, but according to the tattoo artist, it was the place that hurt the most. he mentioned that as long as I kept away from areas that are always covered (such as waist line, crotch or on the back of the arms, near the armpits) the tattoo would actually not hurt as much.
My personal opinion is that they hurt no matter what.
