What should I look for when buying a prepaid Visa?

I heard there are fees with every transaction, and or monthly fees, is this true?

Update:

My daughters live out of state, and I was looking into a prepaid visa so they could by what they wanted, where they wanted.

yes there is but u should always check the fees, some of them are very sneaky and charge u to reload, or chrge u to use it on an atm, etc. so be careful with tht

here are the ones i hear of

    greendotonline.com

    rushcard.com

personally, i recommend rush card because they dont have as many fees, but both u'd have to pay and activiation fee

Exactly WHY do you want one? Prepaid VISA cards make NO sense. You are giving your money to the bank just so they can hold onto it for you until you use the card to pay for something, and then you pay a fee to them for the convenience! Why not just carry the cash with you and not pay any fees at all? At least with a saving account, they pay you interest. With a prepaid VISA, you put your money in the bank exactly like a savings account, only you pay THEM. Prepaid credit cards do NOTHING for your credit.
