Yes, heaven and hell are basic Christian beliefs.
+ Heaven +
Heaven is eternal life with God; communion of life and love with the Trinity and all the blessed.
Heaven is the state of supreme and definitive happiness, the goal of the deepest longings of humanity.
+ Hell +
Hell is the state of complete and final self-exclusion from communion with God and the blessed, reserved for those who refuse by their own free choice to believe and be converted from sin, even to the end of their lives
No one really knows what hell is like. It has been described by people who have not been there as everything from flames to a frozen lake (Dante).
+ Heaven vs. Hell +
A holy man was having a conversation with the Lord one day and said, "Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like." The Lord led the holy man to two doors. He opened one of the doors and the holy man looked in. In the middle of the room was a large round table. In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew which smelled delicious and made the holy man's mouth water.
The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles that were strapped to their arms and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful, but because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths. The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering. The Lord said, "You have seen Hell."
They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the same as the first one. There was the large round table with the large pot of stew which made the holy man's mouth water. The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking.
The holy man said, "I don't understand."
"It is simple" said the Lord, "it requires but one skill. You see, they have learned to feed each other, while the greedy think only of themselves."

I'm Bahai and our prophet "Bahá'u'lláh" teaches that heaven and hell are not places but conditions. Nearness to God is a state of being in heaven, while remoteness from Him is hell-fire. Heaven and hell are symbolic of the soul's relationship to God. Nearness to God results in good deeds and give infinite joy, while remoteness from him leads to evil and suffering.

- My answer is no; because I don't believe in pure good or pure evil, which correspond to heaven and hell.
- By the way, I don't believe in God; let me tell you why:
- The idea of God is not logic enough to convince people.
- Let say God created the universe in 7 days;
+Did God created us all pure good? if not, so God created the ones against him too? why? so one day he will have fun to torture them in hell?
+Why did he let so many religions stand on his name and kill each others to claim they are doing His will?
+ Let say I kill an innocent person, I will be hated by everyone, which is only fair, I get punished by other people, I am put in jail, and then get hanged or shot in the head or seat on an electric chair, i am taken away the right to live, which is my punishment, so I already pay for what i have done, at least I only commited activities against my own kind not God and I already got punished by them, now you put me to hell? for what?
If you want put me to hell, then at the beginning, you should not let other people punished me, I will be glad to pay for everything i have done in your hell. It's confusing!
+ Heaven, if there is a heaven, you human can never get there. but what the hek is heaven anyway? is it beautiful? sure it is. how beautiful is it? nobody knows! What the hek you gonna do in heaven anyway? your rewards? free ch*cks to f*ck? or maybe it's peaceful place to live, no evil. But if their is no evil there, what is the meaning of peace? sleep, wake up, eat, do excercise.....take a shower, eat and go back to sleep? I am really sure if you are a human being, and you live in heaven, it is impossible to not have evil, you may look at your neighbor one day and say: holly f*ck, how come he has bigger muscles than me and the feathers on his wings are smoother!
- Heaven and hell is the worst idea invented by human being (including the idea of God)
- Living here on Earth and dreaming of one day to be in heaven is not logic at all. If it is true, then everything we do here, helping people, loving people, feeling sympathy with people and to religious people praying is just so that one day we can get to heaven; that's not good! that's what we do when benefit on someone to get what we want (in this case, heaven), that's not honest, that's evil.
- Here is my idea: there is no God, no heaven, no hell. We have only one life here on Earth and that's our only one chance. If we want to be treated well, we should do the same to others. That's is our rewards; do something and get something. When we die, our energy will be return to the universe, that energy will be used to created new things, trees, animals, new born children....That's really much what it is; the cycle of life and death.
Don't long for heaven and hell, something nowhere to be seen and not real at all. Start earning your rewards here now on this Earth, but first you have to spend time and energy to create it, that's the only meaning of life.

I believe in them both and I also believe that we can create pieces of there existance on earth. Its as if we take apart of them both everywhere we go and under the influence of there immortal beings we can be influenced to make one half stronger than the other.
