dish washer not washing?

we moved in to the house about 3 months ago and the dishwaher never did a great job of cleaning the dishes. Yesterday it seemed to fill with water and run through the cycle but nothing was clean or wet. today i checked and the bottom fills with water but the arms never spray or move is it the water inlet value or something else

    I would suggest going to a professional.

    (Home depot, Lowe's, Ace).

    I had the same problem a year ago...In the bottom,middle of the washing machine is a hose that extends out when the water sprays. Pull it out to make sure there are no obstructions or gunk that is restricting it.( itshould extend like a telescope ) Sometimes a dish might even be obstructing it's path.

    perhaps it is clogged up with calcium from the water. You can get cleaning stuff, (a kind of lemony acid I think) you put it in and run the cycle.
