why is the nfl retracting their position on the NFL network with the game this weekend?

I understand that the pats have a chance at history going 16-0 and my hat goes off to them. But wasnt their even a better game a few weeks ago with the cowboys and packers? Both teams had one loss and fighting for the number 1 seed in the NFC. That made a huge roar in the NFL community that alot of fans could not see that game. Is it me or is the NFL kind of favoring the Patriots. This is going to be another blow out game the giants will rest all their big name starters on defense and BB and Tom Brady will play all the way into the 4th quarter running up the score on a defense that will look pathetic. Tom Brady even asked the giants to rest their 3 top pass rushers how sad is that is he afraid he will get hurt? Well just spitballing here i know i dont want to watch another blow out. how about this the giants rest their stars and pats rest theirs hey a preseason game which means nothing like this game does except pats chance at history

Update:

I am not a Pats, Giants, Cowboys or Packers fan so I am impartial

No idea ask Roger Goodell he allowed it to happen. Im guessing because those are the other to Networks that have contracts with the NFL and since this game was not included on the contracts this year for either of the net works, the NFL decided to let both networks show the game to boost ratings. Also like you said everyone doesnt have the NFL Network and he would everyone to see History or History being denied haha

It doesn't make sense for the NFL to keep this game from the public. Something like 40% of cable households can see the NFL Network. This way over 90% can see it. The ratings will be really high and ad revenue will go up, it just makes more economic sense. They tried to get away with it in the GB and Dallas game and didn't, so with that to go off of, they don't want to drop the ball for this game

With the NFL retracting their position I wonder what next year is gonna be like if they can't get a deal with the cable companies by then. How many more games will be retracted in the future?

Because the Patriots and Giants game will be a historic game. No team will ever do this in another 10 to 30 or more years. I am glad that they broadcast It on CBS and NBC. No one should miss this historic moment. That is your opinion, If you don't want to see a blowout then miss the perfect season game.

thats the only reason its being televised everywere, it could be a historic game. Packers and Cowboys was meant so people would pay to watch, generating huge income for the NFL

Because the little people are sick of getting screwed by the powers to be for not getting better cable tv services that are way overpriced and they want to see the games on regular tv without having to pay for extra crap we have to get when subcribing

Congress threatened to remove the NFL's Anti-trust status and the Commissioner caved.

    The reason is the following:

It might be a historic game and the TONS of e-mail, phone-calls and letters sent to league office complaining about it.
