Dean Koontz Books?
Ok so, I just finished reading "Lightning" by Dean Koontz. It actually inspired me to try doing some writing. Ok to my Question already. I want to know if anyone else can tell me what his best books are so I can read them as well. I have alot of reading time on my hands so I wanted to pick up a few books. Any help would be awsome! Thanks. Also any ideas for the book I am going to attempt to write would be welcomed as well.

Hes my favorite author. I name a few of my favorites that I think are his best:
Dragon Tears- My favorite
Phantoms
Life Expectancy
Strangers
Odd thomas
Watchers
Hideaway
Intensity
Door to December
and of course Lightning but, you read it already. awesome book. definitely in his top five.
As far as writng goes it be cool if you could write a story with the supernatural in it like alot of Koontz books or a post apocalyptic / end of the world book. I like those kind of stories

Anything by Koontz is better than most of what you can find in your local bookstore, but some of his best stuff (in my humble opinion) is; From the Corner of His Eye, Odd Thomas, The Taking, Intensity, The Bad Place, Phantoms, and Strangers.
The first Koontz book I read was Lightning as well!
Hope these help...
As far as the writing goes, take an everyday idea and "amp it up or tweak it" Example; in The Husband, Koontz takes the idea of a guy's wife being held for ransom, expecting the husband to be a about a rich aristocrat? Nope, he is a mild everyday landscaper.

Intensity is my favorite of Koontz's books.
If you want to write your own book, it is good to read a lot of different authors.
Remember that no one is going to see your early ideas and writing, so just get what you can on the page and worry about making it perfect later.
Less is always more, and you will most likely cut detail instead of add in the long run. Try to write a little bit each day. If you don't know what to do next, just skip over that part to a part you are confident with, and come back to the rest later.
Most important, don't give up!
Good luck, and I hope this helps! :)

I've just read Phantoms, and it's the only Koontz book I've read, but I'm completely in love with it.... It's years since I've been that scared from reading a book... Superb science and supernatural combination, lovely, spell binding narrative, great characters... I highly recommend it!!

Phantoms and Watchers. Watchers probly My #1. there are soooo many and there are so many that are just kinda ok. not knock your socks off. But if you have lots of time on your hands just start going at it! you can usuly burn through his books in a day or two. I with ya on being inspired, I love the afterwords in his books he dosnt always have them but there a nice insight in what he put in the book and got out of it!

I liked The Husband and all of the Odd Thomas'. Velocity- disgusting, I felt like I'd just watched a graphic slasher movie.

I'm a Kootnz fan and without DOUBT the best I ever read as far as scared and kept- me -up-reading....was the OLD book, INTENSITY!! Long ago it had a psychodelic cover of orange and green ( neon)....later they changed it.
Very good book. Promise!

Phantoms, for sure. Very suspenseful but can be brutal. His best in my opinion(2nd is Velocity)
