Will Boston sweep all four professional sports championships in 2007-08?

The Red Sox are World Series champs. The Patriots are on the cusp of a perfect season and a shoo-in to win the Super Bowl. The Celtics are about to raise their 17th banner above the parquet.

Even the Bruins (remember them?) are a legitimate Stanley Cup contender if they can get their sh** together (and hopefully Bergeron will get healthy before the playoffs).

Could Boston become the first city in American history to go 4-for-4? (plus let's not forget the Revs, who almost won the MLS Cup last season).

I feel as though Boston is on top of the world right now. Everything is going our way (and the Yankees have never sucked as much as they have in the last 8 years). = )

    no

i really dont think that the pats are going to win the super bowl, i realize that they are a dominant team, but how many times, in all sports, have we seen a team that totally dominated in the regular season get suprised by someone earlier in the playoffs? i wouldnt be suprised to see them get knowcked off in the second round, but if not their, then id expect indy to get the best of them this time around

the celtics, i dont see winning an nba championship because the teams in the western cofference just seem to be so good, i admit, i dont follow much nba, but i do know that phoenix, la lakers, dallas and san antonio are incredibly good teams and i certainly think that san antonio or phoenix would probably humiliate the celtics in the finals

as for the bruins? come on, they are definately not in a class to be talking about stanley cups, the sens and devils and flyers and rangers in the east, the wings and lanche, even teams like minnesota, all are better than the bruins, they may win one series, but thats about it

and then for next baseball season, i dont see boston repeating what they did last year, they got fortunate with the timing of their injuries in '07 and that made a lot of difference

imagine a scenario where the sox would have actually had to count on jd drew to produce, because ortiz and/or ramirez were hurt for the playoffs or where they had to rely on tim wakefield as a starter cause beckett or schilling had gotten banged up? you wouldnt have seen the sox hosting that trophy, considering the age of a lot of the big stars on that teams the injury bug could easily derail things (kinda like happened to the angels with a banged up anderson and vlad, loosing kotchman for the last game)

i do agree with you on one thing though, the yankees do suck

i cant, for the life of me, understand why all the espn experts are saying that the yankees are still an elite team, werent they watching last year? dont they realize that it was torre who rallied the troops and saved the season? does anybody really think girardi, a man with what, one year of managerial experience?, can do what torre did

i realize he was a player in new york, and so understands the pressures of new york, but look, he played under torre, torre took the pressure away from the players, now girardi is going to have to handle all those pressures, plus the pressure of the expectations people in new york will put on him, hell crumble, so will his team

I still think the Pats will have to overcome the Colts, to win it, last time they played it was a 3 point game and the Colts were without some players, (Marvin Harrison). But one of those 2 teams will win the Super Bowl. Amazing how the Colts are under the radar when they are 13-2, won last years Super Bowl, with their only losses by 3 to the Pats and 1 to the Chargers (which they should've won).

The Celtics are a team that beats up on bad teams. They remind me of the past Mavericks teams that would put up over 60 wins and fall apart in the playoffs. The Big 3 will not be enough to take out San Antonio, Phoenix, Dallas, or Detroit in a 7 game series. The regular season is meaningless as long as you make the playoffs. In the NBA you play a time once every few weeks, you don't play them 2-3 times in a span of a week. That is why the playoffs are so different because you are playing a team in a 7 game series, and the Spurs are still the best, but they still have to play the games. I like the Celtics in the Eastern Conference final for sure though.

I really really don't see the Bruins winning the Stanley Cup. I like the Devils and Senators in the Eastern Conference, and for the Rangers to shape up so I would say they are probably the 4th or 5th best team in the East. The West is significantly deeper and Detroit looks like the team to beat.

So at best I would say 3 of 4. I think it will be 2 of 4 though.

    Ahhh.No!

The Patriots already have the Super Bowl locked up.

The Bruins have to make the playoffs first. That they won't do.

The Celtics may have a great season, but they don't have a hope and a prayer of beating the Pistons in the playoffs. Even if they do,they don't have a chance in the finals unless an underdog team like the Warriors or Kings go to the finals. The Suns,Spurs,or Mavericks will win it all.

The Red Sox have a good chance of repeating, but I prefer to wait until the baseball season is well in progress before I make that prediction.

They diffidently do have a chance to...

I believe that the New England Patriots will beat the Green Bay Packers in the Super Bowl.

The Red Sox have already won it all.

The Celtics are going to be on the bubble, but if they can beat the Detroit Pistons then they could very easily take it home.

The only team in Boston that I think will not is the Bruins, they just don't have enough weapons......It would be something though!

So the Celtics are "about the raise their 17th banner"? Since when do they award the Championship in late December? The Celtics have to get through the Magic, Cavs and Pistons (all beat the Celts this year, the PIstons beat them in Boston) to make it to the Finals. Then I'm sure Messrs. Duncan, Parker-Longoria and Ginobili will be waiting for them.

Look, I love KG and his game but the Celts have no depth at all and this team has never faced real pressure yet. I still have them as a favorite in the East but they're gonna have to earn it.

The Bruins are doing well, possibly overachieving, and they'll make the playoffs. As far as getting to the Finals, I'm not so sure because Ottawa seems like they're on a mission this year.

As a Yankee fan but also real baseball fan I can admit the the Red Sox were a great team this year. Beckett's post-season performance was legendary, I don't think I've seen anything like that in years. They deserved to win.

What I'm jealous of is that you guys are getting a good return on your gigantic payroll; us Yankee fans are only getting first-round flameouts on ours.

Don't call the Pats a "shoo-in" just yet. 16-0, sure but that means less if they don't win the title. They'll have to get through teams like Indy, Jacksonville and San Diego. If they do, however, I'll say that unless and NFC team gets really hot during the playoffs, then the Pats will win it.

Overall, enjoy these times, my friend, and be thankful that you live in a prosperous, large-market, sports-mad area: These things do not happen in places like Minneapolis and Denver.

    1. The Red Sox rule. I keep reminding myself that they won the World Series. It sounds so unfamiliar.

    2. The Patriots have not won yet. It looks promising, but 16-0 is meaningless without the Super Bowl.

    3. The Celtics could not figure out the Pistons last week. Billups tortured them. I love the Celtics. They looked great last night, but let's not crown them yet. I have a small wager with a co-worker over the Lakers game Sunday, so this one is coming close to home. The Celts have to win or I have to bring in doughnuts for everyone on Wednesday. Could run me $12. Ouch.

    4. The Bruins have lots of competition and a history of losing to Ottawa or Montreal. I won't even get my hopes up. Yet.

    5. Yes, Foxboro is close enought to Boston for the Patriots to be Boston sports. Hell, it's close enough to be Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont sports too.

I don't think the Patriots & Bruins make it. The Colts will win the AFC Championship, and the NJ Devils win the Stanley Cup.

Unfortunately for Bostonians, no they will not. The Sox were tops in baseball, the Pats will cruise though to a Superbowl victory, but thats where it ends. The Celtics just aren't a playoff team. age and depth will catch up to them. As for the Bruins... while they are improved, are not even close to Stanley Cup ready yet. It looks like the 2 Detroit teams will snag the other championships. The Pistons just keep doing their thing. And they are so experienced in the playoffs, as well as very balanced. I don't see anybody knocking them off. And the Red Wings.... well they are in a class of their own. Nobody can stop them, and I see them coasting to a cup. So, to answer your question, no sweep for Boston.... instead, i see a split with you and Detroit. And the Sox better watch out for those Tigers next year! Willis and Cabrera scare me.

For the Patriots, have you forgot that the Colts lost by only FOUR and definately have the team to be able to beat the Pats. Brady , as we know, is going for Manning's record. If you watched the game against Miami, Brady threw many times to Moss and a lot of times to the endzone, from 30 yds. SOOOOOOOO, there are a lot of AFC teams to beat the Pats. LIke the Jags, Pitt, to name a few!

the celtics are really going have to do work some magic if they are going to complete the the teams in texas for the championship, but it looks like they will get there. This could be the best year for all the sports teams in boston since 86 when all four team (pats-bears,redsox-mets,celtics-lakers, and the bruins-oilers) all made the finals, iknow the pats season was in 85 but the superbowl was in 86
