How do I completely uninstall programs Mac OSX v. 4?
I need to uninstall a program, then reinstall it. I've used the program "AppZapper," but when I download the installer and try to reinstall, it's obvious my old preferences or extensions are still saved on the HD. Back in the "good old days" before OSX, I would just find the Extensions and/or Prefs files and toss them, but on OSX, I can't find what to delete. Any ideas?
P.S. This isn't the newest OSX, but the one just before it. I can't remember.. the cat name, be it Tiger or Panther.. one of the kitties.

Look in your Library, most application preferences will be under "Application Support" in there. If you delete a program, clear away the related folder from there and you should be good.

Hi Kathy P-W,
Most applications can simply be dragged out of the Applications folder and into the trashcan. Hit delete and it's gone. There might or might not be some library files left. These are very small files that won't really hurt anything, but I would imagine that programs like AppZapper can get rid of those.
You can do a Spotlight (or regular) search to find anything with the same name as your application and then delete that file.
Your Preferences settings might be defaulted to those settings when you re-install your program too. Best of luck to you.

Most mac programs are completely bundled. You should be able to simple drag the application to the trash and then empty it. If you installed it with from a .pkg file then that .pkg file should be able to assist you with an uninstall as well. Remember how you used CTRL + some other key all the time in Windows. Well on mac your friend is the key with the apple logo on it. That's the biggest difference between keys.
