If Tito beats Jones convincingly, does a Cotto/Trinadad match take place in Purto Rico and who wins?

The obvious next move for Tito if he KO's Roy Jones (an outcome a lot of people expect) is to fight Cotto. Does Tito stand a chance or is Cotto too much for the oldtimers.

cotto vs. trinadad? ? ? ? ? who knows promoters make fights happen. Cotto might decide he wants to be a pound for pound champ and agree to move up to 154 who knows. i know trinadad can make 154 easily. Making 147 will be a little difficult. if you watched his last fights with age and his height trinadad boxers at his natural weight now middle weight. I dont think trinadad can beat jones because of the fact when you move up that much fighters lose punching power. and jones has boxed at light heavyweight and heavyweight and his power has no question to it. this will be a easy victory for jones. trinadad needs to enjoy the big payday while it last cause he will be bruised up for days after this fight.

First let me start by saying that Tito is never going to KO Roy Jones. At this point in their careers I think Jones has more left in the tank and he will cruise to a fairly easy win on the cards. Even if Tito got lucky enough to get a win on the cards he'll never be able to come down in weight enough to fight Cotto.

Jones is very dangerous to Tito if he comes fighting like he use to. Every boxer can be a surprise, it will depend on how well he trained and how much he got left. But this is a very interesting question. Tito is an idol in Puerto Rico. Cotto is the new idol but always has and will be under the shadow of Trinidad. Everybody in Puerto Rico wants Cotto to be like Trinidad and more. So as these two idols are important in PR, the mayority of puertoricans don't want this fight to happen. They are puertoricans after all...right??? Well, maybe...but they are also boxers and business man and you know how they say...money talks....so eventhough for sure if they ask Cotto or Trinidad about that possibility they will answer NO WAY...they respect each other too much....but once again, there someone out there call Don King and if people are willing to pay for this fight this man whos an expert smelling money on the rocks, will ask Trinidad with $$$$$$$ a lot of alternatives...If will have to be a lot of negotiations and money since Cotto is from HBO which always been a Bob Arum paradise for his boxers. By the way, did a mention that Arum and King are well...how should I call it? not good friends at all. So, if this two gentlemen and also HBO can agree in dollars$$$$, we will see a very interesting fight (if Tito beats Jones without any doubt). Who will win? Tito by knockout.

This fight is all about the money involved and is actually masking the fact that both fighters are done. I fear for either if they try to risk stepping in the ring with a Cotto or a Pavlik in their next fight, i know the potential for massive earnings will be there but i dont really want to see one of my heros get knocked the **** out just because of trying to make a few more bucks at the end of their illustrious careers. I hope for both of there sakes that this is their last fight. I know B-Hop is still fighting at the top level and so is Winky but their styles allow for this as they dont get hit very much, for the likes of Tito and RJJ who have both took some big shots in their time i would rather see this exhibition and then lets call it a day.

Cotto would probably knock Tito out late on. I know that Trinidad has been saying that he has kept himself in shape in the time he has been out of boxing, but has he kept himself in good enough shape that he can still get down to Welterweight to fight Cotto. Bearing in mind that he has not fought at Welterweight since 1999, I would say no...at least, not without causing himself serious longterm damage.

As far as Jones vs Trinidad goes, people have commented that the way Tito is talking, that he is only taking the fight for the money (not that you would think he would need it). Roy, however, seems to have rediscovered his passion and fire for boxing, and I suspect wants it more, to the point where he feels he will knock out Trinidad. I am in agreement with Rooster, and think that he will do it in about the 9th Round.

Tito has never fought above 160 and even when he did fight at 160 he had one KO in Joppy and got blew out by Hopkins, retired came back KO'd Mayorga and a no body and then got blew out by Wright. Jones will prove what Wright, Hopkins and De La Hoya did, that is out box TIto for 12 one-sided rounds. Cotto woould blow Tito out, because I doubt Trinidad can make 147 lbs again. He has not fought at 147lbs since 1999! If he can make 147lbs then it would be Cotto by KO late or by UD in 12.

Tito has a hard time with boxers that give him movement. Delahoya exposed him, and Hopkins demolished him based on his limitations. Although Roy Jones is out of his prime, he is bigger, faster, and hits harder then a out of prime Trinidad. I would be suprised if Tinidad wins this fight. I know Delahoya has being trying to get a rematch with Trinidad since he retired and has not been sucessful. I don't think Trinidad would take a fight with his country mand, but if he did I think Cotto would win by KO.

Tito10 years ago that would be a fight!!! It is hard for me to see him being able to both make a weight and be effective at a weight he would have to get to, to fight Cotto, Love Trinidad, am looking forward to this fight, but in the back of my mind I keep thinking of that Hopkins fight, can Tito be effective against a bigger skilled guy, got my ticket, MSG is gonna be rockin on fight night!!! I think Tito is like Duran was to his fans, they love to watch cotto fight, but they love Tito.

  • What weight would it be at? Tito will fight RJJ at 170lbs and I doubt that Tito could ever get down to 147 again. If they did fight it would have to be at 154 or 160 with no titles on the line. At those weights I would give an upper hand to Tito even though he is past his prime.

That will never happen. First, I seriously doubt a Trinidad KO over Jones.

Second, Trinidad cannot get down to welterweight anymore.

Third, there are far more locrative fights for Cotto out there than to fight another Puertorrican icon past his prime.
