Do you think power rationing is on the horizon?

I know this would be bad, but fuel and power rationing is likely the only way to get greenhouse gases under control, considering the people that doubt the data. I would not want this to happen to anyone, but what if the gasoline ration was not enough (or just enough) to get you to work and back, what would you do?

How about power rationing? would it be prudent to put your electrical devices on power strips , and turn them off there to get rid of phantom power loads? Do you do that now (like I do) and want to tell the pros and cons?

Rationing sucks, but would it help?

Only for us peasants. The Elite will all be set w/ solar & wind power.

More Nuclear Power is the only option that can keep this from happening. Solar and Wind Power will help some, but is unreliable for 24/7 supply, and requires enormous area to produce a small amount.

Countries like France which now produces 80% by Nuclear don't have a problem. Unfortunately, our liberal "Environmentalist" killed our nuclear industry and put us into this position. That's what happens when decisions are made on what "feels Good", and not good Engineering and Science.

Do you think power rationing is on the horizon?

If just one of the idiots that are running for president are elected in 08, I'd say yep its on the horizon. but that's just the beginning. Next will come food rationing, hope you know how to grow a garden. Maybe now you fokes will be happy.

No, it isn't. That's jsut one of the propaganda scare stories spread by the oil companies.

Use some common sense. We have technologies (wind, solar, nuclear, etc.) that can produce many times more power than we use now--and do it cheaper than burning coal. Furthermore, there are many ways to use energy more efficiently (that is NOT "rationing"): energy efficient lighting, housing, mass transit, fuel-efficient cars. None of those things require anyone to "do without" anything.

The specter of "rationing" power is nothing but a deliberately lie put out by the fossil fuel industry.

I would be honestly surprised if it came to that.

There are plenty of energy production options that emit little or no greenhouse gases. Wind and Solar power come to mind, and the potential for both is just beginning to be tapped.

And then their is always Nuclear Power, while it dose produce nuclear waste, it dose not produce greenhouse gases.

The environmentalists have been criticizing coal fired power plants for years and trying to calm peoples fears of nuclear power plants. I think nuclear plants are where we are going therefore I don’t think there will be any shortage of power in the future.

No, I think higher taxes are around the corner. The politicians see AGW as a money making opportunity. Rationing won't happen until the fuel becomes scarce.
