35 weeks and bleeding?

Hi ladies,

I am 35 weeks, 1 day and just came back to work from my normal weekly OB visit. This visit they preformed the Strep B test and while she had me in the stirups, she decided to check for dialation.

She said I am 1.5cm dialated (yea!) and she can feel my baby's head (also good). She said I may have some spotting or increased discharge as a result of the exam and not to worry.

When I got back to work I went to the restroom and there was quite a bit of blood and even a small clot (sorry...gross I know). Has anyone else experienced this?

Your cervix is very vascular and bleeding is common. If it continues, you begin to cramp or your soaking pads. Call your o.b.

I would say it's still a result of the exam. I'm 35 weeks also and Wed. I went for this same test and she did examine me. She said I'm a little open but she wasn't concerned how much since my cervix was still "sky high". Anyway, She warned me that she was to check me gently, which she did so I didn't get this bleeding or spotting. It is still a good idea to call the nurse and tell them exactly what was on your tissue or panties. They will let you know whether or not to come in for further examination. Good luck & hope you see your little bundle of joy soon!!

  • No...pink discharge is normal. I have that. They said this is normal. Spotting is normal. Blood and clots,,,not normal. I would definately, definately call the doctor and explain what is going on. Even if they say it's normal...it would be better to hear it coming from the doctor. I have never, heard of this.

The exam could have loosened your mucus plug and it has come out, otherwise, I would call your doctor and let them know what happened just in case. Good luck!

Call your doctor. It's normal to have spotting but I don't think that's normal.

I would just call and inform your doctor to inform them of exactly how much.

Sounds like you may have lost your mucus plug!
