If Bush were to sign a "blanket amnesty" before leaving office, what would you do?

I have read a few other posters say that they thought/feared that Bush may sign a blanket amnesty before leaving office. If he were to do this, would we still be having conversations about illegals? I have heard people say that there would be a revolt? Politically? Or, in the streets? And, would this lead to racially motivated crimes (people seeing a Latino family and attacking them)... I personally don't think Bush would do it, but, if he did, what would you do?

Its not going to happen....he's arrogant but he's not THAT crazy. But to answer the question: I would, of course, advocate in every way possible in my power to reverse it, stop it, etc.

And have him thrown out of Texas when he tries to come back here! ;-)

    Dear "outta here"

The 1986 Amnesty was not done through Executive Order. It was done through the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Which went through Congress.

Please enlighten us about the 3 times a President has issued a blanket amnesty for illegal aliens in the past. I am not aware of any such instance.

With all the violence in the world the last thing we need is a question about a blanket amnesty would lead to hate crimes against Latino Families. I do not support amnesty of any sort nor do I support vigilante justice against anyone

He doesn't have the power to do that even with his Executive Order powers.

What would I do....I'd work within the system to make sure it didn't happen as I'm already doing. If it happened...I'd have to evaluate the socio-climate at the time and make an informed decision with some facts at my disposal. Anything I say now would merely be speculation.

Edit: Even the Shrub isn't stupid enough to pull a stunt like that. It would be political suicide for the GOP if he did.

I would have a temper tantrum and throw a fit.

Edit: It wouldn't make the immigration debate moot. My issue isn't the illegal immigrants here already, but the ones that is going to come when we show we are soft on illegal immigrants. Besides, I doubt that he would. Now the economy is heading down hill, we decided we don't need these labourers. I think that's why he decided to start doing raids again. TO keep the unemployment low.

Bush would LIKE to enact such an amnesty but even he knows that it would have severe ramifications to the "two party" system which he worships.

Frankly, i think of Bush is in this now for himself. For extremely an prolonged time, i've got concept Bush relatively could no longer provide a rattling approximately maximum individuals -- different than his very prosperous pals and what they could do for him. could Bush rot in Hell for all I care.

He's not that stupid. Texas would go completely insane crazy. But If he did, I'd set about gettin' ready for riots and chaos on a grand scale, from both sides. Secession would certainly pop up, and I would certainly be in favor of it at that point. Some folks would probably die, too. We take this business seriously down here.

I think Bush would open Pandora's Box ff he granted blankey amnesty to millions of illegals.

As for public reaction... you can be sure to expect a lot of pissed of people in the streets.

I don't think he will, and I do think there would be riots. I am not sure he has the power to pardon 12 million people categorically without examining their individual circumstances, either.

    I would be happy,

To those that advocate violence, What makes you think the Hispanic community will not fight back, while you are burning a couple of towns and attacking a few Hispanics.

I am an American Citizen and I would consider any such attacks, as Racist and respond in a like fashion.

    I'm waiting !
